Healthcare in the Philippines is a mix of private and public systems, with private
hospitals enjoying double the amount of healthcare expenditures as their public
counterparts. All healthcare services must be licensed and accredited by the
Department of Health to ensure quality standards. The current ecosystem allows the
Philippines to continue growing as a medical tourism destination with huge potential for
patients, primarily from the Asia-Pacific region. The Philippines is a decent regional
option for medical tourism. It ranks 20th in Patient Experience and has generally middle-
grade ranks in most categories across the board.
