Overview
Czech healthcare is primarily centered around a successful public system that includes
a compulsory insurance feature. Alternatively, there is also a private healthcare market
in Czechia that is responsible for approximately 16 percent of the market. Thanks to
both wings of the market, Czechia has one of the highest doctors per capita rates in all
of Europe. Much of Czechia’s developing medical tourism sector is wisely centered
around Prague, a beautiful, riverside city that is rich in culture, food, history, art, and
architecture that thousands of people want to visit independent of their medical history.
Czechia’s medical tourism history is growing its reputation as a health destination
primarily around health and beauty offerings – dental and plastic surgery, gastric
bypass, and varicose vein treatments, in addition to orthodontics, orthopedics, and
fertility treatments.
